Elizabeth Muir

Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Practitioner & Breathwork Coach (Long Covid Specialist)

Elizabeth is a Chartered Health and Care Professions Council-registered Physiotherapist (“HPCP”) and the founder of Elizabeth Alexander Physiotherapy and Pilates (“EAPP”). She strives to provide passionate and professional care of the highest standard to restore your mobility, enhance your physical fitness and psychological wellbeing with an effective, efficient, and stress-free approach.

Elizabeth’s Physiotherapy management focuses on aiding the functional movements of everyday life with individually tailored treatments designed to make you feel more confident to move freely, work, socialise and exercise again. Encompassing a holistic approach is fundamental and this can include breath awareness and control, sleep hygiene, anxiety and stress-relieving techniques.

As a fully certified Pilates instructor, Elizabeth practises a form of ‘modified Pilates’ which means that teaching can be easily adapted for pain, pathology and function, therefore increasing accessibility of the Pilates exercises for everyone. Pilates is based on a set of key principles which exercise the whole body, including body awareness and posture, precision and control of spinal and whole-body movements, breathing control, continued flow of movement, as well as graduated core strengthening.

Elizabeth focuses on exercises to combine mobility and strength enabling your body’s natural movement patterns to become more effective and efficient. Elizabeth’s knowledge as a Physiotherapist coupled with her Pilates experience allows her to create exceptionally bespoke treatments which enhance the management of all her clients’ needs.

Offering clients a calm and welcoming environment whether in person or online, Elizabeth creates this tranquil setting and giving sufficient time is an essential part of rehabilitation, especially when people are in pain. Elizabeth treats a variety of musculoskeletal issues and injuries and particularly enjoys rehabilitating people back into sport. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy covers ante-natal and post-natal care, Incontinence, Prolapse, Menopause, post-operative and Pelvic Pain.
