The pioneering, award-winning work of Dr Ben Sinclair caught the eye of the headline writers on the Coventry Observer.
And their article, titled “Coventry GP leads fight against long Covid”, sung his praises, along with those of his colleagues at Dr Finlay’s Private Practice.
The team, who cover the whole of the West Midlands, had been honoured by one of the region’s most prestigious awards, the Phoenix Club Business Awards.
Dr Finlay’s won ‘Business of the year’ with one of the judges praising the business for delivering what she termed “an exemplary and outstanding” service.
Dr Sinclair, 46, who had suffered and fully recovered from both Covid and Long Covid, went on to launch “one of Britain’s first-ever online clinics dedicated to helping those with the condition,” the paper reported.
And the Observer also highlighted comments made by Dr Sinclair that, according to discussions with his patients, it appeared that diagnoses for Long Covid were sometimes being missed.
Dr Sinclair said: “A lot of my Long Covid patients now say to me when they went they were told that they were anxious, they were tired, or stressed, they should take it easy or go for a run and blow away the cobwebs.
“But actually, this diagnosis of Long Covid was being missed. Sadly, some people were not recognising Long Covid.
“Some employers, doctors, consultants and even family members don’t believe it exists, which can be incredibly distressing for the patient suffering from it.
“Because I have had it myself, I understand how frustrating that is and my patients tell me they feel reassured that I understand how they are feeling.”
Dr Sinclair and his team, comprising GP, clinical psychologist, counselling and nutritionist support, covers all areas of medicine, with additional focus on Menopause and Long Covid issues. As well as in Coventry and surrounding areas, they now treat patients around Birmingham and the City Centre, Harborne, Edgbaston, in Sutton Coldfield, Four Oaks, Little Aston, Solihull, Bourneville, Halesowen, Barnt Green, Knowle, the Jewellery Quarter, Wolverhampton, Litchfield, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford on Avon, Kenilworth, Worcester, Droitwich Spa, Kidderminster, Tamworth, Alcester and Walsall.
