Dr Anna Day

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Anna Day says: “Having suffered with post-viral problems, I am passionate about understanding the ways in which we can help move our nervous systems and bodies into a healing state, thus reducing inflammation and improving our immune systems. I also understand that chronic illness comes with many complex and difficult emotions, and an array of associated problems such as some folks simply not understanding. I hope I can help you untangle and process some of these difficult feelings and experiences so that you are in a happier and more accepting place.”

Anna is a qualified, HCPC registered, Clinical Psychologist. She worked in the NHS for almost 20 years, helping patients across the lifespan to understand and cope with difficult life events, complex physical health problems, and mental health issues. She has a special interest in working with clients suffering with Long Covid and/or ME/CFS, and also women who are navigating the menopause. Anna is also passionate about working indirectly with people, enabling clients to feel the benefits of psychological input through their parents, care-givers, or other professionals. Similarly, she is passionate about teaching and training and has lectured at Newcastle University, and to many NHS and staff teams.

Anna uses an eclectic approach in therapy, tailoring the intervention to the client so they receive the best fit. More recently, Anna has been developing her interest in Compassion Focused Therapy, and hopes that she can help people lead happier and more connected lives by supporting them to nurture their compassionate selves. Anna is also an EMDR Therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and has years of experience working with people who have suffered trauma in their life.

Anna has suffered with Long Covid, and has used her skills as a Psychologist to help her body to heal. This fostered her interest in Polyvagal theory, and our ability to move our bodies into healing states by befriending our nervous systems. It also reinforced her belief that self-compassion is a powerful tool in navigating illness and any other traumatic event. She is fully aware that Long Covid is a physical illness, yet has developed a deeper understanding of the integrated nature of our bodies and minds through her own lived experience. She is now keen to help other people suffering with Long Covid along their recovery journey.
