Bromsgrove and Barnt Green doctors praised as “exemplary and outstanding” as Dr Finlay’s win top award

From the perspective of his patients in Bromsgrove and Barnt Green, Dr Ben Sinclair and his medical team always regard maintaining the good health and wellbeing of those in their care as the top priority.

From the point of view of his fellow GPs, clinical psychologists, nutritionists, counsellors, therapists and admin personnel at Dr Finlay’s Private Practice, they were also proud to notch up a ‘first’.

At the Phoenix Club Awards, one of the West Midlands’ most prestigious events, Dr Finlay’s had been shortlisted for ‘Business of the Year’ – and on the night had emerged the winner.

More than 250 guests attended the glittering black-tie event and Dr Sinclair was delighted when one of the judges praised Dr Finlay’s for delivering “an exemplary and outstanding” service.

It meant a great deal to Dr Sinclair because it confirmed the high levels of care in the community, including in the Bromsgrove and Barnt Green areas, to which he and his team were committed.

Through its face-to-face appointments, video consultations and home-visiting service, as well as Bromsgrove and Barnt Green, the practice covers all areas of medicine, with additional focus on Menopause and Long Covid issues, and also treats patients around Birmingham and the City Centre, Harborne, Edgbaston, in Sutton Coldfield, Four Oaks, Little Aston, Solihull, Bourneville, Halesowen, Knowle, the Jewellery Quarter, Wolverhampton, Litchfield, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford on Avon, Kenilworth, Coventry, Worcester, Droitwich Spa, Kidderminster, Tamworth, Alcester and Walsall.

‘Phenomenal’

Dr Sinclair, 46, a keen triathlete before he fell ill with Covid and Long Covid, has now made a full recovery from both. He suffered some severe, lingering and debilitating neurological symptoms, temporary partial paralysis, brain fog and had difficulty walking.

Undaunted, he then used his knowledge and specialist expertise in treating the virus as a platform to pioneer the launch of what is thought to be Britain’s first-ever dedicated online clinic for Long Covid sufferers.

After overcoming his health challenges, Dr Sinclair also re-structured his business to cope with challenges from the pandemic. Before lockdown, he and his team just offered patients face-to-face appointments and video consultations.

But as the pandemic’s impact grew, he ‘pivoted’ the business to transform it into a home-visiting service and also extended patient support outside Birmingham to cover the wider West Midlands region.

Phoenix Awards Chief Judge Zoe Bennett, herself an award-winning speaker, Founder of the Multicultural Business and Community Champion Awards, and business owner, said: “The pandemic has made us appreciate our medical professionals even more.

“The service Dr Finlay’s provides is exemplary and that’s what it’s all about. It’s phenomenal what they have done, outstanding. I know as a business owner with two limited companies, that we always say we’ll look after ourselves, but we don’t.

“We’re too ‘in the grid’ and too busy. It’s really important to strike a balance to make a time to see your doctor for regular check-ups. Once you have that stroke or heart attack, it’s sometimes too late. Prevention is better than cure.”
